Class of '79 30-Year Reunion

The Class of 1979's 30-year reunion will be held on August 29, 2009 at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA.

Ticket prices are $75 per person if paid before July 15, 2009 and $80 per person if paid after July 15, 2009. Price per couple is $140 if paid before July 15, 2009 and $150 if paid after July 15, 2009.

6th Annual All-Class Reunion Picnic

Where: Cameron Park, 1305 E. Cameron Ave., West Covina, CA 91790
Time: 9:00 a.m. - Dusk
Cost: $1.00 optional donation per person on the day at the park to defray reservation and other expenses.
What to bring: There are some shelters and tables there but bring blankets to sit on and/or chairs in case you need them. Also food (for your family), umbrellas, canopies, sunscreen, toys, games, EHS memorabilia to share, kids, grandkids, parents, cameras, memories, and whatever else you can think of.

Class of 1968 40th Reunion

The Edgewood High School Class of 1968 will hold its 40th Year Reunion on Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight at the Kellogg West Conference Center & Lodge at Cal Poly Pomona. A class picnic will follow the next day, Sunday, October 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cameron Park in West Covina.

Class of 1975 30th Reunion

The Class of 1975 cancelled its 30th reunion, which had been planned for November 5, 2005 at the University Club in Pasadena. Some class members are thinking about a 31st reunion in 2006.

Class of 1965 40th Reunion

The Class of 1965's 40th reunion will be held on Saturday, October 1. It will be an old fashioned sock hop, with tons of nostalgic decor. The 1965 Time Capsule contents will be on display. There will be good oldies music, and a 'Nostalgia Corner" that should get a lot of laughs

The reunion committee said, "We've done everything we can to make it affordable to everyone, the dress is very casual, and the level of enthusiasm we've been receiving is absolutely phenomenal."

Ticket prices are $ 45.oo per person. This includes a dinner which is definitely NOT steak and lobster, but is guaranteed to please and bring back memories of our youth.

2nd All Class Reunion

It was a beautiful day, if warm and a bit humid, but we had a nice breeze most of the day. The venue turned out to be perfect for this kind of event so we'll try to go back to Cameron Park next year.

It's a lovely bunch of folks that attended this event today and I'm very grateful to all who were able to come and visit for any length of time. I was especially pleased to see so many spending time on "Memory Lane" going through all the memorabelia that was brought to the event. It prompted a lot of special sharing, some wonderful stories and I'm sure some new friendships. Thanks to all who participated!

First of all - total who signed in - a whopping 324! Up from 183 the first year and very respectable for a 2nd year, eh? Next, Class of 70 had 23 sign in and Class of 63 had 21 sign in.

And just from conversations I had with people today, we had at least two two-generation grads present (mom and kid who both graduated from EHS). Very cool!

There were several teachers but other than Van Dunahoo and Sue Lingenfelter, I didn't know them. I'll dig them out of the lists soon. I do know that one was Ward Wenner, a math teacher and Kay Zahrt - HomeEc? I don't remember her.

Anyway, there was also this amazing young guy who popped in out of the blue. Turns out he's a track coach at WCHS and he saw the signs while driving by. He pulled in and sought out the "person in charge" and said I have some stuff I've been saving from an old rummage sale years ago when Edgewood was turned into a middle school and I just hated to see it be thrown away so I bought it and have been saving it to find a nice home for it someday and would you like it? With that, he left for a few minutes and returned with a football jersey (number 64), some heavy weight wrestling warm-ups and later in the day an EHS baseball cap and some other kind of sweats. He then proceeded to hang around Memory Lane and started looking at the board I did of teacher pictures from back in my day (copied from Gordon's website). At that point, he began pointing out teachers who were still there, those who had retired, and a whole bunch of information about them. It was so cool! He was just a delightful young man! He's going to look for more stuff around the school and he has contact info for me so I guess I now get a new designation as EHS museum! Yikes! HAHAHA!

I just have one more thing to add. Last night at our 35th, Bruce Carr - one of my classmates and the owner of a trophy company, got up and started this long story about Oscars and how they were put together and all this stuff about how he was involved in that........ long story short - he made and presented to me my very own Oscar (which looks remarkably like the real thing) and says "The Oscar, Presented to Debi Elliott, For her hard work and dedication to Edgewood High School". I cried and was humbled beyond words. I will treasure this all of my life. Bruce, my friend - you touched my heart right where I live..... I came kicking and screaming because my parents moved me to EHS between my sophomore and junior years and I thought my life was over back then, but what I have found is that these are the people I still have in my life today and these are the people who are faithful and support all my efforts. I wasn't able to make an acceptance speech last night but I'll say now - I am privileged to offer the opportunity but it's all of you who make these events come to life!
